A Brief History Of Canyon Bicycles Growth
Sep 20, 2017

Canyon Bicycles, one of the world's best-selling bicycle brands, has been in place since 1984, with more than 100 countries in the world, but on August 15 this year the company officially entered the U.S. market.

In the mid 1980s, Canyon's founder, Roman Arnold, was an amateur cycling racer for the western German city of Koblenz (Koblenz). When he was 18 years old, his father died, in his brother Franc agitation, two people began reselling Italian bicycle accessories to earn a living.

In 1985, Arnold had a decent team, and his bike shop became a distributor of well-known brands, including American professional Special Trek and Cannondale (Arnold has long been Germany's largest Trek distributor). But Arnold still wants to have his own bicycle brand, initially he gets subscribers through a small mail order catalogue, then enters the internet and becomes one of the first brands to sell bicycles online, though it seems a risky bet, but Arnold Always believe that direct sales will be the future trend.

Canyon first achieved rapid growth in Germany, followed by France, Italy and Spain, and then gradually expanded to other regions, now able to provide direct marketing services to consumers in more than 100 countries. Since 2008, Canyon has sold more overseas than in Germany each year.

According to Cross Border, Canyon is now one of Europe's largest bicycle manufacturers, with a total of 850 employees worldwide, with annual sales of up to $180 million, with sales increasing by 30% per cent over the past seven years.
